What the result means

A solar return is defined by the Sun reaching the same tropical longitude as at birth. The calendar year does not exactly equal a solar orbit, so the return may occur before or after your calendar birthday.

How we calculate

Astronomy Engine calculates geocentric positions in the tropical zodiac. Birth times are converted using a bundled IANA time-zone database. House geometry and aspect rules are computed separately. Supported input dates are 1900–2100.

Questions you might have

Why is my solar return not exactly on my birthday?

It is tied to an astronomical longitude, not midnight on a calendar date. Leap years and time zones also affect the displayed date.

Does changing the return city change the return time?

No. It changes the local clock display and house geometry, not the geocentric solar-longitude event.
